Where does the earthquake data come from?
Every earthquake in Rumble comes directly from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the authoritative public source for global seismic data. The app refreshes roughly once a minute.
Why does a quake’s magnitude differ from another app or the news?
Right after an earthquake, USGS publishes a fast automatic estimate and then revises it as seismologists review the data. Magnitude, depth, and location can all shift slightly in the first hours. Rumble shows the latest values USGS has published; a “Reviewed” status means a person has confirmed it.
What do the colors and sizes mean?
Each quake is colored and sized by magnitude — brighter, larger marks are stronger events. Tap any quake for its magnitude, depth, location, time, and a link to the full USGS event page.
Does Rumble use my location?
Only if you allow it, and only on your device — to show how near recent quakes are to you. Your location never leaves your phone. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Does Rumble send earthquake alerts?
Not in this version. Rumble is a live map and browser for now. Rumble is not an emergency warning system — for official alerts and safety guidance, follow your local authorities and services like USGS ShakeAlert where available.
Do I need an account?
No. Rumble works immediately with no sign-up, no login, and no personal information.
